Recession proof your quality of life

First time to blogging and hope this avenue of stress relief might help kill boredom. Written here in Australia from a Singaporean.

This I spent pretty much for the last 3 hours in search for ways of making money doing so much as nothing. A dream that has not materialise. All I find are testimonies of scams. Bottomline, I'm afraid for the future, the financial security for my family. The dangers of single income. The dangers of only being in one profession. I'm a nurse, a registered nurse to be specific, yet I dont feel safe. The hospital I work in couldn't pay its debt such that "Normal Saline" ampules are out of stock !!! what is happening ???

Thus began the process of thinking........... the solution: always have multiple skills. Not as in having multiple skills in the same profession but as in multiple skills of different professions. You can be a Registered Nurse, who can teach Personal Training /massage on off days. Or an Engineer by day, weekend Male Escort. It appears the 2nd job needs to have flexibility. In my opinion, professions such as Nurses, Personal Trainers, Massage Therapist, Male escorts (joke but is a reality) are just some professions that can be done on flexible timing controlled by you and yet provide rather good source of 2nd income. All except Nursing require minimal training. All you need is dedication and maybe within 6 months, these skills can be obtained easily as part of recreation or weekend courses.

Other areas to look into are " Electrician, tradesmans such as Plumbers, Computer repairs, Home repairman=?Carpenter, Home Chef, or even catering from home. All these can be self studied or learnt through a cheap course available in Singapore. Of course, becoming a full fledge tradesman requires alot of training. But I noticed many homes willing to pay good money for simple things such as installing a new light !!! its easy money.

All I'm saying, especially new graduates who has not found a job to look into the prospect of keeping your mind sane by obtaining the above skills. Skills that many have not thought much about but yet may provide you with a good source of income. The list is not exhaustive. One thing I'm quite certain is, its darn difficult to find a job as a new graduate with zero experience. Do not let your years go by and ponder "what the Fxxk did I do" ? .... this recession is going to be a terrible one. Much worse than the previous one that I went through.

Good luck
